Straight Forward In Every Way
I’d keep this very close to your words, because the idea is strong. I’d just tighten the flow a little:
I’ve known Cathy for many, many years, in many different ways. She’s not the typical client who is interested in being photographed, yet she had a very different take on pursuing this shoot.
She talked about the old days, when women would dress up and take themselves to a portrait studio to have an image made of themselves—something that might become a family heirloom or a photograph hanging on the wall. She described how people took the time, and took pride, in documenting their existence.
It feels so different from today, when our phones are overloaded with every single thing we do—what we’re eating, what we’re wearing, where we’re going, and what we think.
This is just a simple, straightforward image of who she is.
The 40 Over 40 project is often filled with fans and clothes and hair and movement—which I love, by the way. But this one was a little different. There was nothing to hide behind. You can see the strength in her eyes, in her posture, and in the way she occupies the frame. And if you knew Cathy, you’d know this was spot on.
I love this image of her.
